In a board meeting chaired by His Highness Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, President of the UAE Olympic Committee, a decision to rename the body as the UAE Olympic Committee was approved, in line with international naming standards and Olympic movement protocols.
His Highness shared the update in a social post, noting that the meeting also reviewed ongoing initiatives aimed at advancing the Olympic movement in the UAE.
“We reviewed initiatives to advance the Olympic movement,” he wrote, highlighting the Committee’s continued commitment to strengthening the nation’s sporting presence globally.
Among the topics discussed were preparations for two major upcoming events: the World Games, set to take place in Chengdu this August, and the 3rd Asian Youth Games, scheduled for October 2025 in Bahrain.
On the sidelines of the meeting, Sheikh Mansoor also met with athletes who recently competed in the GCC Beach Games 2025 in Muscat. Team UAE finished second overall, bringing home an impressive total of 23 medals — including 8 golds.
“We applaud their achievements and wish all our athletes continued success in representing the UAE on the world stage,” his highness added.
