The UAE has expressed its sincere condolences and solidarity with India after at least 132 people died following the collapse of a pedestrian bridge in the western state of Gujarat.
As many as 400 people were on the structure at the time, just days after the bridge was reopened following repairs.
The 230-metre colonial-era crossing was built during British rule of India in the 19th Century. Known locally as a Julto Pool, it is a popular tourist attraction in the area.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MoFAIC) expressed its sincere condolences and sympathy to the Indian government and to the families of victims, as well as its wishes for a speedy recovery to all the injured.
