The Dubai Health Authority (DHA) has instructed its hospitals and one-day surgery clinics to suspend non-essential surgeries until February 19.

According to a tweet by the Dubai Media Office, the decision is in line with the government of Dubai’s effort to maintain the highest levels of health and safety in the emirate.

The rule applies to elective procedures that require general anesthesia.

Health authorities clarified that priority is being given to critical cases and emergency surgeries that require immediate medical attention.

These include, but are not limited to, neurosurgery, orthopedic operations, cardiac and radiological interventions, and other urgent medical interventions in general surgery, ophthalmology, pediatrics, gynecology and obstetrics.
