Dubai Municipality records over 2,000 violations in residential areas

As many as 2,395 violations in unauthorised construction and illegal occupancy in residential areas have been recorded in the first half of 2026, Dubai Municipality announced, adding that strict action has been taken against 466 cases.

Of the total violations, 451 have been fully rectified, while 1,478 are currently completing the required corrective measures. 

It comes after Dubai Municipality conducted more than 16,000 field visits across residential areas, including 800 in Al Warqa.

Top violations included bachelor accommodation in non-permitted areas, occupancy of multiple families in single residential units, and construction work without permits.

The inspections are conducted to "identify violations at an early stage, follow up on corrective measures and strengthen compliance among property owners and occupants", while safeguarding public safety.

Dubai Municipality also urged residents to report non-compliant practices through its official channels, enabling faster response to potential violations to ensure residential areas are better-regulated.
