UAE strengthens focus on early childhood, family wellbeing

The UAE is launching a nationwide initiative to help families support children's learning, development and wellbeing during their most important early years.

The first national Early Childhood Week will take place across the country from November 16 to 22, led by the Ministry of Family in collaboration with the Abu Dhabi Early Childhood Authority.

Held under the theme 'Every Moment Matters!', the initiative seeks to raise awareness of the importance of early childhood development, support parents and caregivers, and encourage greater collaboration across sectors that contribute to children's wellbeing.

Families will have access to a range of activities, including play-based learning, parenting workshops, health and wellbeing experiences, arts and music, storytelling, cultural programmes, sports and community activities.

The initiative will also bring together organisations from the health, education, technology, sports and community sectors, creating more opportunities for families to access support and meaningful experiences.

The early years are a critical period of development, with around 90 per cent of brain development taking place by the age of five.

Last year, more than 70 partners delivered over 300 activities across Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and Al Dhafra, attracting more than 65,000 participants.
