UAE condemns storming of Al-Aqsa Mosque courtyards

The UAE has strongly condemned the storming of Al-Aqsa Mosque's courtyards by Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir and settlers under the protection of Israeli police.

In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs described the incident as a provocative escalation and an unacceptable act of extremism, and called on the Israeli government to assume full responsibility for the actions and hold those involved accountable.

The UAE warned that continued attacks and incitement to hatred and violence threaten social peace and risk further escalation.

The ministry also stressed the need to respect the historical and legal status quo at Al-Aqsa Mosque, protect holy sites, and uphold Jordan's custodial role over the mosque's endowments and affairs.
