The UAE has denied claims that there are safety issues with its nuclear power plant.
The country’s permanent representative to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has released a statement reiterating the nuclear programme's compliance with global safety and security norms.
Ambassador Hamad Ali Al Kaabi says more than 10 different international missions have already reviewed various aspects of the project.
He added that the UAE is a signatory to the Convention on Nuclear Safety since 2009, while the country also has a competent independent regulatory authority.
The plant, located in Al Dhafra region is now more than 91 per cent complete, and is expected to become operational by 2020.
