Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has started the trial run of autonomous vehicles at the Expo 2020 Dubai site.
The electric vehicles will operate up to 16 hours and can accommodate 15 riders with a travel speed of 25 km.
Designed to operate in closed and internal public roads, it will carry people on a dedicated path starting from the main entrance to staff offices.
It is part of the RTA’s Dubai Self-Driving Transport Strategy, which hopes to convert 25% of journeys in Dubai to self-driving modes by 2030.
RTA officials revealed that the trial run will last for three months.
