UAE and German Presidents discuss strengthening bilateral ties

UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and his German counterpart Frank-Walter Steinmeier on Thursday discussed ways to build on the longstanding ties between the two countries.

The leaders met at Villa Borsig in Berlin during Sheikh Mohamed's two-day state visit to Germany, national news agency Wam reported.

Sheikh Mohamed highlighted how the UAE and Germany continue to build on the strong bilateral relations from over 50 years through "shared commitment" to "advance mutual interests and contribute to the prosperity of both countries".

His Highness commended Steinmeier’s role in advancing the relations between the two countries. He also highlighted the contribution of the UAE’s German community as well as the role of German companies in bolstering cultural and economic relations.

The leaders also reviewed a number of regional and international developments, including efforts to promote lasting peace in the Middle East as a means of strengthening regional security and stability.
