The UAE's President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan on Monday welcomed Ilham Aliyev, President of Azerbaijan, who is visiting the UAE for Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week (ADSW).
Sheikh Mohamed expressed his pleasure in hosting President Aliyev and thanked him for attending ADSW. He also congratulated Azerbaijan on successfully hosting COP29, noting the significant outcomes and President Aliyev’s leadership in making the conference a success.
During their meeting at Qasr Al Shati in Abu Dhabi, the two leaders discussed ways to strengthen cooperation in areas such as economy, investment, renewable energy and climate action.
They highlighted the UAE's ongoing collaboration with Azerbaijan, particularly in wind and solar energy projects with Masdar and the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR).
The discussions also focused on the role of ADSW in raising global awareness about sustainability challenges. President Aliyev expressed gratitude for the UAE’s hospitality and reaffirmed Azerbaijan's commitment to deepening ties with the UAE across various sectors.
Both leaders agreed on the importance of collective action to address global challenges, especially climate change.
