A whistleblowing platform has been launched in Abu Dhabi for the public to report financial and administrative corruption in the emirate.

Reports can be submitted confidentially through the Wajib platform by anyone who comes across unlawful practices in Abu Dhabi government entities.

It will also handle complaints related to local and international companies in which the Abu Dhabi government has a vested interest of over 25 per cent.

Reports can be sent in Arabic and English, 24 hours a day, throughout the week.

The Abu Dhabi Accountability Authority said the initiative is aimed at promoting and consolidating the principles of integrity, transparency and good governance practices in government and government-related entities.

After the reports are received and reviewed, the person who submitted the complaint will be contacted to authenticate the details of the incident. The complainant will also be asked to give some personal information and verify their identity by entering a code sent to their registered mobile phones.
